How do you feel about retirement?
Is it an opportunity?
Or do you get bored?
Do you feel a need to stretch your mind or body?
Whatever your reason, the U3A in Dumfries can help.
There’s more in your life than you think!     Find it now…...

WHO LEARNS?
Whoever wants to learn.
Learning in our small study groups is informal.
Groups may be led by a member, or members may take turns to lead.

WHO TEACHES?
Whoever has the knowledge, skills, experience and expertise.
There are no entry qualifications, no exams, no professors or students.
It is a sharing experience between members who want to learn.

WHERE AND WHEN DO INTEREST GROUPS MEET?
Study groups – usually in members’ homes during the day.   Some activities, like walking or art, take place at other venues.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND INTEREST GROUPS?

No - there are also monthly open meetings, with guest speakers, available to all members.  Held on the 1st Thursday of every month from October to April at St Teresa's Hall, Glasgow Street, Dumfries.  There is an annual outing in May for any interested members whether in an interest group or not, at extra cost.

In 2012 we have around 285 members already.  There are 23 interest groups with new groups forming from time to time. Most of our activities take place during the daytime and they are FREE to members.

The annual subscription is renewed on 1st January each year at a cost of £14 per year from January to December, with a special rate for new members of £7 from June to December.  This entitles members to attend study groups, activities and open meetings, without additional charge, (except where exceptional expense is incurred for a particular activity).   We produce a U3A local magazine twice a year, and members receive a nationally produced U3A magazine 4 times a year.  The subscription also allows access to any U3A in the UK.

Over 273,000 people nationally in 832 branches use the U3A to enrich their later years.
